Poem: Technicolour

This week I wanted to share a poem with you. In my last year of Uni I had to produce a photobook. I decided to write a poem based off my own experiences with Anxiety and Depression which was then illustrated with the photographs I took. Here is the poem. I’ve found that Anxiety and Depression are somewhat cyclic, you never truly get rid of them, some days are just better than others. I’ve been in a good place for a while now, and hopefully that will continue for a long time.

By B. Forrester
My world was once a crystal dream,
of cerulean blue and vibrant green.
But as I grew,IMG_0328 fascination waned,
she grew opaque as colour drained.
My heart learnt painful truth and fear,
and saw less beauty, light and cheer.
That’s how I live from day to day,
in a world of growing grey.
Yet still the tinted darkness creeps,
like poison ivy at my feet.
I try to cut and halt its tracks.
I truly want my colour back.
But still the navy clings to me,
no infernal blaze to burn it free.
No additive to make it white,
no rose to tint my blackened sight.
I want the golden sun’s bright hues,
to give me hope, a dream, a clue,
that one day soon, I’ll break this curse,
So living here no longer hurts,
I will lie here and I will dream,
that once again beauty will be seen.
